If you’re ordering cannabis online for the first time, the first question is usually the most important one: is this actually legal? The short answer is yes — but only within specific states, and only if the seller is operating the way it should be. Here’s exactly how legal cannabis delivery works in California, Oregon, and Washington, and what West Coast Treez does to stay compliant with every shipment.
The Short Version
Adult-use (recreational) cannabis is legal for adults 21 and older in California, Oregon, and Washington. West Coast Treez ships exclusively to these three states, in full compliance with each state’s cannabis regulations. We do not ship cannabis products to states where recreational cannabis remains illegal, and every order requires age verification before it’s processed.
California
California legalized adult-use cannabis under Proposition 64 in 2016, and the state’s Department of Cannabis Control now oversees licensing, testing, and distribution statewide. Adults 21+ can legally purchase and possess cannabis, and licensed delivery is permitted to most areas of the state. You can see our full range of California-eligible products on our California cannabis page.
Oregon
Oregon was one of the earliest adopters of adult-use legalization, passing Measure 91 in 2014. The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) regulates cultivation, testing, and sales, and mandates track-and-trace compliance (METRC) from seed to sale. Adults 21+ may possess up to one ounce in public. Details on what’s available in-state are on our Oregon cannabis page.
Washington State
Washington voters approved Initiative 502 in 2012. The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) regulates the market, and licensed producers and processors must meet strict testing standards under WAC 314-55-101. See what ships to Washington on our Washington cannabis page.
What Makes an Online Cannabis Order Legal
Legality isn’t just about the state — it’s about how the order is handled. A compliant cannabis delivery should include:
- Age verification — every customer must confirm they are 21 or older before purchasing.
- Licensed sourcing — products should come from licensed cultivators and processors, not unregulated sources.
- Third-party lab testing — every batch should carry a Certificate of Analysis (COA) confirming potency and screening for pesticides, heavy metals, and microbials. You can see exactly what we test for on our Lab Results & COA page.
- Discreet, compliant packaging — shipments should be plain-packaged and only delivered within legal states.
- State-restricted shipping — a legitimate seller will refuse to ship to states where recreational cannabis isn’t legal, even if a customer asks.
Why We Don’t Ship Everywhere
It would be easy to advertise nationwide shipping and quietly ignore federal and state law — plenty of gray-market sellers do exactly that. We don’t. West Coast Treez only ships adult-use cannabis to California, Oregon, and Washington because those are the only states where we can legally do so. If you’re outside those three states, we’re not able to ship cannabis flower, vapes, or pre-rolls to you, regardless of what other sites may claim.
Buying with Confidence
Every West Coast Treez product ships with a QR code linking to its batch-specific COA, so you can verify potency and safety before you even open the package. Combined with state-compliant delivery, that’s what “legal cannabis delivery” is supposed to look like — transparent, tested, and above board.
